What follows here is an engineer’s take on the practical aspects of horology, inspired by an enjoyment of mechanical gadgets and machines that are ‘alive’.

The aim? That’s the simple bit: to build the ultimate take-anywhere useful mechanical gadget, a wrist watch. From scratch, i.e. lumps of metal.
